brittney & hunter :: wedding film :: benson, nc

Benson-Wedding-Videography.png

Hunter and Brittney helped us to kick off our 2018 weddings with a beautiful winter wonderland themed wedding! The weather was fitting for the occasion....12 degrees, breezy and snow on the ground! We started the day at Stone Creek Advent Christian Church. North Carolina was experiencing record cold temperatures, but between the beautiful sunshine, the excitement of the wedding party, and the family and friends all gathered together to celebrate Hunter and Brittney you almost forgot about the chilly weather.

Hunter and Brittney's ceremony was so sweet and personal. Gathering with hundreds of friends and family they pledged their vows to each other and assembled a unity cross together before they were officially introduced as husband and wife!

After the ceremony the wedding party was brave enough to head outside for us! The sun was setting over the open field and reflecting off the remaining snow that was left on the ground, leaving everything with a beautiful orange glow.

After a few more photos and family portraits we all went to the reception where guests enjoyed an evening of good food, dancing and getting to spend time with the new Mr. And Mrs.

Brittney and Hunter, thank you for letting us be a part of your big day! We wish you all the best!

Clint and Roxie's wedding was a beautiful December wedding in quaint eastern North Carolina. It was a cold but sunny day and Roxie was so stunning I'm not sure anyone even realized how chilly it was. We met the bridal party at Roxie's home church, First Baptist Church of Ahoskie, early in the day and got to spend the afternoon with them as they prepared for a beautiful ceremony and fun-filled reception. There was not an empty seat left in the church as Roxie walked down the aisle and Clint and her exchanged vows.

The evening finished with everyone dancing the night away during the reception at Beechwood Country Club with live music from The Pizazz Band.

Thank you Roxie and Clint for allowing us to be a part of your big day!

MaKenzee & Kaleb :: Johnson City, TN :: Wedding

Makenzee and Kaleb's Tennessee wedding was one of our favorites of 2017. It was an honor to be part of their beautiful day. Surrounded by the picturesque mountains of Tennessee, Makenzee and Kaleb gathered with friends and family as they pledged their vows and committed their lives to one another. matt & katie :: wedding film :: laurinburg, nc

Katie and Matt's wedding day was one of those weddings where you could feel the emotion and excitement throughout the day. Watching Katie's sisters as they prepared her to walk down the aisle to Matt with such care and love was so sweet. You could tell they were preparing her for the day she had been so excitedly waiting for. The guys spent the afternoon getting ready as guys do which entailed a lot of joking around and picking on the groom! But when it came time for Katie and Matt to exchange gifts you could see that the anticipation of the day was becoming real and their reaction opening their gifts was priceless, and was only topped by their faces when they saw each other as Katie walked down the aisle.

Their ceremony was beautiful as the church was filled with loved ones watching the two become one. They had a lot personal touches and special moments.

The reception was fun filled with a live band, all of their close family and friends and a great evening for all! Everyone was so excited celebrating the new Mr and Mrs Gardner and we are so thankful we got to be a part of such a special night!

Check out their video to see for yourself!

Katelyn & Hank :: Eastern NC

Katelyn and Hank's wedding was one where you leave knowing that everyone truly enjoyed themselves and are going to remember it for awhile. We met Katelyn and her girls at her sister's house in Hobgood, NC. I must be honest, I had never heard of Hobgood before booking this wedding and as we were driving out there I could see why, but as we got farther and farther off the main road it was like we were driving into a country song. Her sister's house and farm were beautiful and as we watched the storms in the distance as they finished getting ready it was truly beautiful.

The wedding took place at The First Baptist Church in Scotland Neck, NC. Hank and his guys were a lot of fun to be around and you could feel the excitement in the air for what was to come. The church was packed full as Katelyn walked down the aisle in her beautiful dress.

The southern charm in this wedding could be seen throughout, from the magnolia leaves that were everywhere to the Embers playing at the reception. At the reception, the dance floor was never empty.

Paige and I had a great time! You can never go wrong as a videographer when you have an amazing bride and groom to capture and also a fantastic photographer to work with...thank you Kelly Parnell!

Thank you Hank and Katelyn for allowing us to be a part of your wonderful day.

erin & bryan :: wedding film :: beaufort, nc

In the age of pinterest it's hard to do anything truly unique anymore, but some how Erin and Bryan pulled it off! From the waterfront venue (which was also a HUGE boathouse) to their dog walking down the aisle, to the drone coverage and the acrobatic entrance and entertainment during the cocktail hour there was always something to keep the guests wondering what's next?! We had the honor of being a part of their memorable wedding this past April in Beaufort, NC. The day started in beautiful Morehead City, NC where the bridal party was getting ready and then took a trolley to The Boathouse in Beaufort, NC. On the drive over there was rain, but thankfully it all quickly cleared and allowed for a beautiful outdoor ceremony and great open-air reception!

One of the cool things with this video is the drone footage we got to incorporate thanks to Skyward Imaging. These guys were amazing and captured some of the surrounding area and ceremony like no other.

The Boathouse at Front Street Village is a functioning boathouse so as we were taking pictures before and after the ceremony the crew was literally picking boats up out of the water and putting them on shelves for storage. I've never seen anything like it and it made for an incredible backdrop!

Thank you Erin and Bryan for allowing us to be a part of your day!

morgan & ryan :: wedding film :: rocky mount, nc

Morgan and Ryan's wedding day was one of those magical wedding days we so love being a part of! We first met Morgan and the bridesmaids at her Aunt's house on a beautiful farm outside of Rocky Mount. There was much excitement and laughter as they anticipated what the day would hold. We left from there to head to Morgan's parents' house where the reception would be held later that evening. There's something very sweet and special about a wedding reception hosted on family property. It felt deeply personal and sentimental as friends and family gathered together in the front yard under a beautiful candle-lit tent, dancing and laughing the night away as the family home provided a memorable backdrop. It was a wonderful day celebrating Morgan and Ryan along with their tight knit group of friends. It made for one great reception! Whether it was the smiles, laughter and tears or the groomsmen's collective serenade to the bride - this was a day filled with love.

The night ended with a sparkler send off just in time for the rain to come, we couldn't have asked for better timing! Thank you Morgan and Ryan for letting us be a part of your special day! We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!

kayla & lucas :: wedding film :: hilton head island, sc

When Kayla contacted us to see if we would be available to do videography for her wedding in Hilton Head Island, SC we took out the calendar crossed out anything we might have had and immediately said YES! We love getting to do videography for weddings and we love Hilton Head! Lucas and Kayla had their wedding at the Sea Pines Resort with the ceremony on the beach and the reception in the newly renovated Beach Club. The day started overcast with a few drops of rain but by the 4:30 pm ceremony the sun was out and it was beautiful.

The setting was idyllic and watching Lucas tear up when he saw his bride for the first time coming down the boardwalk made the entire afternoon. The reception was equally beautiful, but even more fun! Lucas' side of the family is from Argentina and let me tell you, the Argentinian's know how to have a good time! It was so much fun watching the two sides of the family come together on the dance floor, smiling, laughing and having a blast!

Thank you, Lucas and Kayla as well as the Pollock and Stinson families for allowing us to be a part of your day!

Andrew & Chelsea :: Wedding Film :: Hiltons, VA

Freezing temperatures and blustering winds couldn't put a damper on Andrew & Chelsea's gorgeous Virginia wedding. From the moment we pulled up to the property of Crooked River Farms we were blown away. Rolling pastures and a beautiful venue nestled in the Appalachian mountains - it doesn't get much prettier than that. With their ceremony taking place outside, guests were treated to apple cider and hot cocoa while the huge outdoor fireplace added to the ambiance of the moment! From there the celebration continued inside the gorgeous Ohio Grist Mill, circa-1823 - this gorgeous two-story reception venue is highlighted by it's 12x12 oak beams and picturesque lighting! It was such an honor celebrating the day with this sweet couple alongside of their family and friends! Andrew & Chelsea, we wish you all the best! Thank you for allowing us to document your wedding day - it was a wonderful display of worship, beauty and love!

powell :: wedding film :: rocky mount, nc

When Stacy contacted us about doing the videography for their wedding we were so excited. We have known Stacy's sister, Alison, and her husband Gary for a few years now - we've even had the pleasure of shooting some family photos for them! We love the Powell family and we were excited to find out that Stacy (Alison's sister) was marrying Kevin (Gary's brother). Of course, weddings are typically a family affair, but these two took the term "keeping it in the family" to a whole new level! It's always an honor being part of a couple's special day - be sure to check out the highlights of Kevin & Stacy's beautiful winter wedding!

[Murphy + Sarah ] Wedding Video - Apex, NC

Screen-Shot-2014-09-16-at-7.45.20-PM.png

I am so grateful that I was able to be part of Murphy and Sarah's wedding day. It was a day of joy and laughter, filled with love and grace. Murphy and Sarah's love for each other was truly evident throughout the day and they were surrounded by friends and family whose care for this couple was on full display. It's funny to think back about how I met this couple. I actually met Sarah at a wedding last summer - not only did I meet Sarah that day but I also met Logan, Sarah's friend, who I've been blessed to get to know and even shoot multiple weddings with this past year. Sarah was helping to coordinate the wedding and Logan was the videographer for the day. From that very first time we met, I remember hearing about Murphy, Sarah's fiance and Logan's best-friend. I never would have imagined the way are lives would continue to cross over the next few months, but here we all are, over a year later, and I am so thankful I was able to witness and capture Murphy & Sarah's wedding day.

I have been so impressed and encouraged by this group of friends. Their faith, love and care for each other and those around them is so genuine and full from the moment you meet them. Murphy and Sarah's wedding day was a true reflection of the love they have for each other and the deep-rooted faith they share that binds their relationship together.

Murphy and Sarah, thank you for allowing me the privilege to be part of your day. I consider myself blessed to have witnessed the covenant you made before God, your family, your friends, and each other. I wish you both all the best!

Logan Jacobs - Oak City Studios - Raleigh, NC

[vimeo width="925" height="525"]http://vimeo.com/102896486[/vimeo] As many of you know, when we decided to open Fifth of June, I was pretty set that we would not be doing weddings. Not because I do not enjoy them, I do. But  I thought it would be best if we focused on families and lifestyle portraits. That being said, when Logan of Oak City Studios approached me about second shooting with him this past summer, I couldn't pass on the opportunity.

I met Logan at a wedding he was shooting and  I was attending. After a brief conversation we exchanged contact information and that was that. After a few emails back and forth Logan reached out to me about some upcoming weddings he would be shooting. Being that it was his first summer in business he was looking for a helping hand. I was glad to jump in and it was a great summer shooting together.

Logan was gracious enough to answer a few questions for the blog and any of you budding videographers out there:

When did you become interested in videography?

Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved taking pictures and videos.  It wasn’t until I was finishing up with college that my true passions emerged.  Since then, I’ve been practicing and studying as much as possible.

How did Oak City Studios begin?

In July of 2013, my best friend planned out a proposal to his long time girlfriend. He knew that he wanted pictures of the proposal but I decided to experiment with making a video.  After releasing “The Proposal,” something happened that I never expected.  In less than a day, the video had over 1000 views.  It was then that I decided that I would turn my hobby into a business.

You're coming to the end of your first year of business, what have you learned?

I have learned that running a business isn’t as simple as creating a facebook page and paying fees.  After a full year of very diverse jobs and gigs, the one thing that I have learned above all else, is that making friends is the most important part of my business model.  Without my amazing friends and family, Oak City Studios would not exist and there’s no better place to make friends than when I’m working a gig.

What are your upcoming plans?

After graduating from NC State in May, I’ve decided to take a little bit of a break before entering the engineering field.  I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to voulenteer with an organization called Surfing the Nations as a service team member.  During my 9 months there, I’ll be serving the organization by helping with their photography/videography needs.  So, on September 8th, I’m moving to Hawaii!

What are your hopes for the future of Oak City Studios?

Once I return from Hawaii, I am hoping to pick up right where I left off with the business.  This summer has been the most amazing experience and getting to work with Fifth of June has been a Godsend. After seeing just how well this summer has gone, who knows what the Lord has in store for our next wedding season! My hope for the future is that I will be able to continue my pursuit of videography and provide clients with more than just a video, but an experience that they remember forever.

I am very excited for Logan and his upcoming time in Hawaii (tough life). If you want to learn more about Surfing the Nations you can check it out here 0r if you would like to support Logan as he goes you can do that here. I am so thrilled to have met Logan and it was a true pleasure working alongside of him this past summer - we are both very excited about what next summer will hold as we will again be teaming up!

If you have a wedding coming up - be sure to reach out to him! While you do that check out some of our work from this past summer - Cam & Sarah's Wedding Video (above) as well as some photos from Greg & Erika's wedding (below)!
