The Southerland Family - Raleigh, NC

Morgan and I met back in 2006 when I started as an intern at NBC 17 here in Raleigh. She had recently finished up an internship at the station and had just accepted a full-time position. Soon after my internship, I too accepted a full-time position with the station. Thankfully for Facebook, I have been able to keep up with Morgan over the years and watched her family grow! It's been great to see her and Matt get married and recently welcome Camden into their lives. He is such an adorable little boy and we were thrilled to take pictures for them!

We met them at one of the local parks on a beautiful evening and had a great time enjoying the weather and our time together!

The Pilkington Family - Raleigh, NC

As we celebrate our first year, I'm thrilled to share this session with the Pilkington's - a family who has supported us from the beginning! I can remember shooting McKenzie's newborn photos. It seems like only yesterday she was swaddled in a blanket as Taylor and Cassidy held their beautiful baby girl. Yet now that precious newborn is a laughing toddler and it was a pleasure capturing this sweet family as they grow together. The Pilkington's were troopers, meeting us downtown bright and early! We had a great time hanging out and taking photos with these friends and can't wait to meet up with them again to capture their newest addition who will be arriving this fall!

Hendren Family - Raleigh, NC

What a wonderful afternoon we had with the Hendren Family! Their oldest daughter, Leah, is so full of joy and capturing her laughter, spontaneity and love of life was such a blessing. Jordan, their newborn, is a beautiful newborn girl, with baby blue eyes.  We met them at their house on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and had a great time capturing them in their element. We even had a chance to include the Hendren's Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers in a few pictures which was reminiscent for Paige and I since we grew up with a Wheaten. It was our pleasure spending some time with the Hendren's and getting to know this lovely family.

Balbo Family - Chapel Hill, NC

I have known Maryann for close to 8 years now. I first met Maryann when I was hired as an intern at NBC 17 here in Raleigh. Back then, to a college intern, she was the intimidating Director of Marketing. Since then, I have come to know and love her, not only as a boss and colleague, but as a friend. Outside of my father and grandfather, there is no other person who has taught me more about hard work and professionalism in the business world. Maryann has a sense for people and personalities. After I graduated from NC State, she hired me full-time as part of her marketing team. At the time, there were 9 of us on that team and to this day, the majority of us still get together as much as we can even though we've all gone our separate ways.

It has been such a pleasure to watch Jon and Maryann grow from a couple into a family of four! I met their son, Mason, when he was just a day old in the hospital and it was so much fun getting to meet Maxine, their newest addition, the day we met for photos. We did their shoot at The Sienna Hotel in Chapel Hill, NC. The Sienna is where Jon proposed to Maryann years ago and now we were back with their family. Check out their pictures and their beautiful family below!

Shearin Family - Raleigh, NC

We adore the Shearin Family! Chip and Kristal are our old neighbors. We loved running into them into the street, sharing neighborhood stories, and the fun times we had together living steps away. It's been years since we lived close to each other, but we still love keeping up with them and their adorable children. When Kristal contacted us about doing  a family photo shoot we were excited not only to capture some images of their awesome family but to have a chance to catch up! It was a warmer winter day and the kids were troopers - everyone looked magazine perfect! Aiden went with us, so he loved getting to play with their boys after the photo shoot, and the boys were great with Aiden!

Salisbury Family - Raleigh, NC

We have known Jeff and Jen since, well, before they were Jeff and Jen. We all met years ago when we were part of our church's College and Young Adults group. It has been a lot of fun to watch Jen and Jeff get to know each other, get married and start a family. JJ and I beat Jeff and Jen to the alter by 3 months, but they have been leading the way with kids. They had their first, Johanna, 6 months before we had Aiden and we have been on a 6'ish month trend with them ever since. There has been (or will be) a Salisbury or Wilkins baby every 6 months since Johanna came along. It's definitely not planned and I'm not so sure it's going to continue this way :), but it's been pretty funny to watch it play out. At least it's been nice that Jen and I have been able to share maternity clothes and baby items. We were so excited when Jen's mom contacted us about taking photos of their newest addition, Carolina. We also did an updated family session of their now family of four and were even able to get a few pictures with the grandparents. Carolina is such a beautiful baby and Johanna is already settling into her role as big sister. We did their session a few weeks ago while Jen's parents were in town. Since JJ was at work, Aiden had to go with me, but luckily Hannah has some of the best toys and we had lots of hands on deck. It was a beautiful morning and we had a great time seeing the family interact and getting a lot of beautiful pictures. I look forward to watching these girls, and this family, grow!

The Barrows and Dorion Family - Raleigh, NC

A beautiful mild afternoon, two adorable cousins, and three fun sisters equaled an awesome fall shoot this past November. We were thrilled when Brooke, an old friend from high school, sent us an email letting us know they were interested in meeting up with us to take some family photos. We had a great time with this crew! There is nothing we enjoy more than capturing genuine moments of love and laughter, of which, there was no shortage on this afternoon we spent together. Now that Christmas has passed, we are thrilled to be able to share some of their favorite shots!

Thankful - Thanksgiving Family Photos - Franklin, NC

Every year, like a lot of families, we take our family photo for our Christmas cards. Luckily this year was warmer than last year and we weren't all shivering, red nosed, and blue lipped! Even though Aiden was fighting a double ear infection and had just fallen on the driveway (the fun part of learning to walk), it was a beautiful evening and the lighting was great. It's always interesting when you are the photographer and the photogetter, photo'ee, ya know....the one in the picture! Thankfully, with the help of technology and a tripod, Paige was still able to capture some great shots that will be landing on refrigerators and card holders everywhere in the next few weeks!

Pittman Maternity Session - Raleigh, NC

We had such a nice time with the Pittman family! Nina and Jason we're such an amazing couple and their son, Drake, though shy at first, warmed up to the camera and had the biggest smile! We were worried the weather might be a little cold, but it ended up being a beautiful day in the 60's. We had fun taking pictures all over the park and Drake was excited because he even got some time on the play ground! They are so excited to welcome their newest addition in a few weeks and we had the best time sharing this moment with them. We can't wait to meet Baby Pittman in January....or sooner!

Guthrie Family - Raleigh, NC

We have known Scott and Michelle for a long time. We knew them when they were part of the college and singles group at our church and now they are married with 3 adorable kids! They had their third child, and first boy, this summer and wanted to get pictures of their growing family! It ended up being a little colder than expected the day of the session, but I don't think the kids noticed at all.

The Frasier Family - Raleigh, NC

Paige and I had such a great time this past weekend capturing pictures of the Frasier Family. We have known the Frasier's for quite some time now. We both worked for Jim back in college when he had a coffee shop here in Raleigh. Jim has an amazing wife Michelle (how he managed that one, no one will ever know!). They are the proud parents of their super fun twins, Cole and Karis. The twins are three years old and while it took Cole a little while to warm up to the camera, he soon got into the grove and Karis was working it from the first shot! Michelle's parents and brother joined us for this family session - the more the merrier! The love this family has for each other and the fun they have together made for such a great session!

Driver Family - Wake Forest, NC

A few weeks ago Teran and I had the great pleasure of meeting up with the Driver family in Wake Forest. For months we've been discussing getting together to capture some photos of their growing family. Billy is a pastor at our church and I have had the privilege to serve along side of him for years in our college and young adults ministry. From the day I met him and Sonia, their heart for service was evident and that attitude carries over when you see them around their family. You might think a family of 8 would keep our hands full, but it truly was one of the most laid back and enjoyable sessions we have had!

The Reeder Family - Wake Forest, NC

Capture.jpg

Cory and Jillian just recently packed up the moving van to take a position at Jillian's home church back in New Jersey. Before they left we got together to capture a few photos of their sweet family on the Southeastern campus where Cory has been in school for the past three years. This was the second time I've had the privilege of taking some photos for this family. Check out their first session here.

The Rankin Family - Raleigh, NC

Much can be accomplished with a tripod and a remote shutter release. So when mom says she wants a picture for above the fireplace, you get mom a picture for above the fireplace. This past spring we headed out to a local park and did the best we could on a short time schedule. It turned out ok nevertheless and besides the cold weather and the curious bystanders, it was pretty fun.

The Reeder Family - Christmas Photos

Sitting around their dining room table, sipping on a french press, I was struck by the coziness of their home. As a visitor I felt welcomed. Jillian cut slices of a homemade dessert as Cory and I talked about some of our favorite NPR programs. They are one of the sweetest couples I know and their daughter, Evelyn, is an adorable bundle of joy. I had the privilege a few times to enjoy coffee and dessert with Cory and Jillian in their home before they moved away. We have known each other from church for a while now and getting to hear more of their heart and drive was always an encouragement to me when we could get together.

Last fall I had a chance to take a few photos for them to include in their upcoming Christmas cards and I was thrilled to spend the afternoon with them!
